How to move XDC from an exchange to your own wallet

To move XDC off an exchange, withdraw it on the XDC network (chain ID 50) to an address from a wallet that supports XDC, send a small test amount first, then the rest. Here is how, step by step, including Ledger and the xdc and 0x address formats.

Why most of the wait is the exchange

On the XDC Network itself a transfer is quick: a new block every few seconds (live above), and a block is final once three more blocks confirm it (xdc.org). Most of the time between clicking Withdraw and seeing XDC in your wallet is the exchange's own processing and security checks, which differ from one exchange to the next.

Before you start

A wallet that supports XDC

Use a wallet that works with the XDC network, from a phone app or browser extension to a hardware wallet. Our XDC wallet list links each one's official download. If it is an Ethereum-style wallet such as MetaMask, add the XDC network first (chain ID 50) with our one-click tool.

Your recovery phrase, on paper

Write the wallet's recovery phrase down and keep it offline. Anyone who has it controls your XDC, and nobody can recover it for you.

Check that withdrawals are open

Your exchange must support XDC withdrawals on the XDC network. The section below lists what each exchange says.

Step by step: withdraw XDC to your wallet

  1. Copy your receiving address from your wallet. It may start with xdc or 0x.
  2. On the exchange, choose Withdraw (or Send), then XDC, and pick the XDC network if it asks for one.
  3. Paste the address, and check the first and last characters. If the exchange accepts only one prefix, convert it with our address converter instead of editing it by hand.
  4. Read the fee and the amount you will receive, then send a small test amount first.
  5. Find the test on the explorer: paste your address into XDCScan and look for the incoming transaction.
  6. Send the rest once the test has arrived, and keep the transaction record for your taxes.

What each exchange says about XDC withdrawals

Checked on each exchange's own website. Rules and fees change, so confirm in the app before you send.

Kraken

Kraken says it lets you “withdraw your XDC Network to any hot wallet or cold wallet that supports XDC Network” (kraken.com).

Uphold

Uphold's help centre lists the XDC network among its withdrawal networks, with its fee, in its fees and processing-times article (Uphold help centre).

Robinhood

XDC Network is on Robinhood's list of coins you can send and receive (Robinhood).

Binance.US

Binance.US says you can deposit and trade XDC on the XDC network (Binance.US). Its announcement does not mention withdrawals, so check in the app that XDC withdrawals are open before you rely on them.

Moving XDC to a Ledger or other hardware wallet

Ledger

Ledger supports XDC through third-party wallets: it names MyEtherWallet, MyCrypto, Guarda and Math Wallet (Ledger). Connect your Ledger to one of them, copy the XDC receiving address, and check that the same address shows on the Ledger screen before you withdraw to it. Details: does Ledger support XDC?

From Uphold or any exchange to a Ledger

The steps are the same as above: the Ledger only changes where the receiving address comes from. Always confirm the address on the device itself, not only on the computer screen.

Trezor and others

We could not find XDC on Trezor's own list of supported coins when we checked (trezor.io). For any hardware wallet, check the maker's own list before you send XDC to it.

xdc or 0x: which address format to use

XDC addresses can be written with an xdc prefix or the Ethereum-style 0x. XDC's own wallet guide tells MetaMask users to replace xdc with 0x when pasting an address into MetaMask, and to switch back when sharing it (XDC documentation). Use whichever form the exchange or wallet asks for, and convert rather than retype.

Common mistakes, and how to avoid them

Choosing another network

If the exchange offers several networks, choose XDC. A withdrawal on a different network may not arrive in your XDC wallet.

Skipping the test amount

A small first transfer costs one extra fee and can save the whole amount if something is wrong.

Ignoring a memo or tag field

If your exchange shows a memo or tag field for XDC, read its instructions; XDC's own wallet guide does not mention one.

Fake support

Nobody from an exchange or wallet will ever ask for your recovery phrase to “fix” a withdrawal. More in our safety center.
