XDC Safety Center: Spot and Avoid Scams

The scams that target XDC holders, how to check a link is real, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Common XDC scams

Fake airdrops and giveaways

“Claim free XDC” sites that ask you to connect a wallet or send XDC first.

Fake staking and “guaranteed yield” sites

Very high fixed returns are a warning sign.

Fake support

Accounts that message you first on Telegram, X or Discord offering to fix a wallet problem.

Recovery services

People who promise to get stolen crypto back for a fee. They take the fee and disappear.

Look-alike websites

Domains that copy an official site with one letter changed.

Wallet-draining approvals

A transaction that quietly lets a contract move all of your tokens.

Check before you send or sign

  1. Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone, for any reason.
  2. Type important addresses yourself or use bookmarks instead of clicking links in messages.
  3. Check the full address, all 40 characters after xdc or 0x.
  4. Read what a wallet approval allows before you confirm it.
  5. Send a small test amount before a large transfer.

Official XDC links

Main XDC Network sites: xdc.org, xinfin.org, the developer docs at docs.xdc.network, the developer forum at xdc.dev and the block explorer at xdcscan.com. XDC Watch is independent and not one of them.

If you think you have been scammed

  1. Stop sending funds and do not pay anyone who offers to recover them.
  2. Move any remaining funds to a new wallet with a new seed phrase.
  3. Revoke token approvals you do not recognise.
  4. If an exchange was involved, contact its official support through its website.
  5. Report it to your local police or fraud authority, and tell us so we can warn others.
