What is XDC used for?

  • What it is: a public, EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain. Apps written for Ethereum can run on it.
  • What it is for: trade finance, tokenized real-world assets and payments, according to xdc.org.
  • The coin: XDC pays for transaction fees and is staked by masternodes to secure the network.
  • Mainnet: live since 1 June 2019.

Who created XDC Network?

XDC was created by XinFin Fintech Pte. Ltd., a Singapore company incorporated in 2017 and co-founded by Atul Khekade and Ritesh Kakkad. The XDC Foundation, a not-for-profit set up in 2021 in the Cayman Islands, supports development, governance coordination, education and community. Source: XDC MiCA white paper.

How does XDC work?

XDC uses XDPoS 2.0, a delegated proof-of-stake design live since 30 September 2024. A fixed set of masternodes produces blocks about every two seconds, and a block is final after three blocks (xdc.org).

Since the Cancun upgrade on 30 January 2026, XDC uses Ethereum's EIP-1559 fee model and burns the base fee of every transaction (xdc.dev). Track it on our burn tracker.

Does XDC have a max supply?

About 37.5 billion XDC were created at genesis and there is no maximum supply: masternode rewards add new XDC, and the fee burn removes some. See the XDC supply page for live figures and the allocation.

Is this an official XDC site?

XDC Watch is an independent site and is not affiliated with XinFin or the XDC Foundation. Nothing here is financial advice.
