What is XDC used for?

XDC is the coin of the XDC Network. It pays for transactions and secures the network through masternode staking, and the network itself is used for trade finance, tokenized real-world assets and stablecoin payments.

What the XDC coin does

Pays transaction fees

Every transaction on the XDC Network pays a fee in XDC. Since the Cancun upgrade in January 2026, the base part of that fee is burned (release notes). Live totals are on the burn tracker.

Secures the network

Masternodes stake 10 million XDC each to produce and validate blocks, and earn XDC rewards for it (xinfin.org). Smaller holders can take part through staking services; see how to stake XDC.

What the XDC Network is used for

Trade finance

TradeFinex is a platform on XDC for digitizing and tokenizing trade-finance assets such as invoices and warehouse receipts (tradefinex.org). In August 2023, XDC integrated with TradeTrust from Singapore's IMDA, for digital trade documents such as electronic bills of lading (xdc.org).

Tokenized real-world assets

ComTech Gold, a tokenized gold product, issues its CGO token on the XDC Network (comtechgold.com, token on XDCScan). In July 2025, Brazil's VERT Capital announced plans to tokenize up to $1 billion of debt and receivables on XDC (xdc.org).

Stablecoins and payments

Circle's native USDC and its cross-chain transfer protocol, CCTP V2, went live on XDC in September 2025 (xdc.org). The current value of stablecoins on XDC is on the DeFi page.

Institutional custody

Custodians such as BitGo support XDC for businesses (BitGo documentation).
